Vintage Hydrofoil Water Skis 1963 Ski Craft w/original Cosmo Dynamics Kit Rare. This is a one owner garage find. This kit was mounted on new 52 inch wood Ski Craft skis in 1963. Own a piece of history! Below is a press release from 1963.
Tiny hydrofoil wings attached to these skis enable the skier to bank, dip, climb, and glide at speeds up to 35 miles per hour. The foils start lifting at eight miles per hour, ride two feet above the water. Newton Upper Falls, Massachusetts, developed Dynaflite hydrofoils. Under the skis are a stabilizer and two flying wings, one of them removable for extra speed. A skier, its claimed, can learn to use the foils in a half-hour.
These rare "Flying" water skis are in original stored condition, they've been stored in the garage for the last 40-45 years. I last saw these exact skis used in the 1970's and they were amazing! Please look at the photos carefully and decide if this item is for you. Please ask questions if you're unsure about anything. Like everything I sell, I'll stand behind this item if you don't think it is represented accurately.A clue to the manufacture date is the absence of ZIP Code and the State abbreviation for Massachusetts on the CosmoDynamics label. This indicates a date that's not later than 1963, possibly earlier.
